Athletes from Smith’s Wood Academy are heading to the School Games County Finals next month after an outstanding performance at the regional indoor athletics event.
The Year 8 boys’ team claimed gold at the competition, held at North Solihull Sports Centre on Thursday 12 February.
The School Games are funded by Sport England and delivered locally by Think Active, who coordinate events across Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire.
PE teacher Mr Rose praised the team’s achievement, saying: “The team demonstrated outstanding skill, determination and teamwork throughout the competition.
“Not only was their performance exceptional, but they were also exemplary ambassadors for our school. Their conduct both on and off the pitch reflected our school values perfectly, making us incredibly proud.”
Smith’s Wood Academy’s partnership with Think Active continues to expand opportunities for young people to compete, grow in confidence and achieve their personal best – inspiring them to stay active for life.
The team will return to action on 23 March, facing the Coventry, Warwickshire and South Solihull regional winners in the County Finals.
