‘The thrilling spectacle of ‘Bulls in the City’ is charging into Birmingham during the summer of 2025!
A thrilling parade of 40 larger-than-life sculptures, and around 85 calves each one a unique masterpiece of artistry, depicting the legendary Birmingham Bullring Bull. These majestic sculptures aren’t just static displays, they’re part of an exhilarating, free-for-all adventure trail designed to thrill families and tourists alike! The trail opens on the 16th July and extends throughout the summer to September 14th.
We adopted a small calf sculpture to design and decorate, which will be displayed during the summer trail. The name, design and decoration of the calf sculpture was set as an Academy competition. Students were given three themes; My Personal Journey, My Birmingham, Erdington Academy Values.
The most inspired designs were added to ‘Sir-loin’ by students at the Academy after school and at break times.
Following on from the successes of our previous sculptures and their display in prominent locations, ‘The Big Read Book bench’ in John Lewis Bullring store, ‘The Big Hoot Owl’ at Think Tank and ‘The Big-Sleuth Bear’ on Erdington High Street, we hope to raise a significant amount for the Hospice and continue to raise our profile in the community.
Gardening and DT club students built Bird boxes, Bat boxes and Butterfly farms to sell. A Raffle was held to win Hoodrich clothing and donations poured in.
The money raised through Bulls in the City will support Birmingham Hospice to ensure the very best care is available, wherever and whenever it’s needed. Their mission is to ensure everyone has access to the care of their choice at the end of life.’
