Music, art, food and fun came together in a kaleidoscope of colour as students at Bournville All-Through School celebrated Culture Day.
Children from across the 4–16 age range arrived dressed in clothing reflecting their national heritage, sampled dishes from around the world and took part in energetic bhangra dancing sessions during the event on Friday 22 May.
For primary students, the day was filled with hands‑on activities, including henna tattoos and creating vibrant rangoli patterns using coloured rice to welcome guests and bring good luck.
Teachers at the school, which is part of Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust, embraced the fun too, wearing their own cultural clothes and joining in the dancing.
Head of Primary Mr McDermott said: “Cultural Day at Bournville is a fantastic opportunity for all our children, from the diverse range of backgrounds that we have, to come together and share their upbringing and the cultural history behind them.
“It celebrates the diversity we have in school and brings us all together on a really special occasion.”
The festivities also offered a meaningful way to explore British values – democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance – which are deeply embedded in the school’s curriculum.
