A recent Ofsted monitoring visit at Smith’s Wood Academy detailed several areas of progress, highlighting in particular:
- The effectiveness of Safeguarding procedures at the Academy.
- Improved attendance and behaviour.
- Effective collaboration with various organisations to encourage and inspire career pathways.
- Teamwork/collective whole school approach towards school improvement – including provision from the central MAT leads to increase capacity and support teaching & learning.
- Ongoing staff training to support Teaching and Learning.
- Further emphasis and action to improve reading and literacy.
The academy and all stakeholders are reassured by the noted improvements which are key factors in the Smiths Wood journey, and we are excited about the collective spirit that is apparent as we embark on our next phase of continued growth and school improvement.
