“enriching lives, transforming futures”

We welcome applicants who reflect our core values; you will be dedicated and ambitious, with an ability to deliver excellence, whilst demonstrating integrity and traditional manners.

Why work for us?

Our Trust is committed to “enriching lives and transforming futures”.  We take pride in not only developing our students in order for them to reach their maximum abilities, but our employees too; expanding on their skills and knowledge and offering them the opportunity to progress within our Trust.

A major advantage to joining an Academy within our Trust is the greater potential for opportunities including cross training, secondments and promotion.

Safer Recruitment

FMAT is committed to providing the highest level of education and care to its students and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

FMAT recognises that the safe recruitment of its staff in the Trust is essential to safeguard the children in attendance. It is our duty to prevent unsuitable people from working with children – ensuring we practice safe recruitment in checking the suitability of staff and volunteers who work with children.

Safer practice in recruitment means thinking about and including issues relating to child protection and safeguarding, promoting the welfare of children at every stage of the process and for all people being recruited.

For all posts, enquiries will be made with previous employers about whether a safeguarding concern has been raised against you.

Early Career Teachers

If you are a current trainee teacher looking to secure your first job as a qualified teacher in September, or an established Early Career Teacher looking to develop your career, please register to join our ECT talent network and a member of our Team will contact you to discuss opportunities that best match your preferences and experience.

Here at Fairfax Multi Academy Trust, we believe that a high-quality induction process is the bedrock for a successful teaching career.

As such our ECTs development is our priority which is why we have developed a comprehensive and rigorous ECT programme.

FMAT use STAR as Appropriate Body for the Early Career Framework and our ECT programme is delivered through National Institute of Teaching.

“Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust clearly prioritise ECT development and have years of experience supporting Early Career Teachers”.  – STAR Appropriate Body Quality Assurance Visit Nov 2024

ECTs at FMAT are assigned a mentor who provide day by day and week by week support through the cycle shown in the diagram below.  Self-directed study is accessed through the evidence based ‘Great Teacher Toolkit’ allowing ECTs to access current evidence whilst learning to implement it with support of their mentor and Professional tutor who oversees the ECT provision within the ECTs academy.

“Overall, the ECTs were extremely positive with the support they were receiving at all levels: their mentor, the school and the trust. The ECTs mentioned that while they were getting more support than what was required, they nevertheless never felt as though they were a ‘lesser’ member of staff”. – Appropriate Body Quality Assurance Visit Nov 2024

Here’s just a snapshot of what our employees and Governors have to say…

Being a Director has given me a great deal of
pleasure. I feel I am able to contribute to children and young people’s futures and have a positive impact in governance across the Trust.

Joanne Charlton, Director

“The staff at Smith’s Wood are committed, caring and ambitious.

We all want the best for the students and outcomes for the school that we are
proud to work in”.
Emma Douglas, Maths Teacher,
Year 11 Achievement Leader
“To me being an Associate at Fairfax is a privilege and great opportunity to not only help the students at an important point in their life, but also support and challenge the staff, alongside developing my own professional skills. Attending celebration events and observing the talent and ambition amongst the students is one of the most rewarding parts of my role.”

Dr Sophie Ward, Associate, Fairfax Academy
